Cleaning your makeup brushes must be a regular habit, either you are a professional or not. If you are the only one that is using your little magic tools you can wash them every 10-20 days, but it depends on how many brushes you have, how many times you are using them, and the colors that you are using for your makeup. For example, if you are using only nudes, it’s ok, but if you are using mixed colors, reds, blue, green, nudes, you should wash them much more often in order to get the best of each color.

From the time that you apply your makeup, you are sharing some bacteria with your brushes. The next time the bacteria will be multiplied, and so on… This will cause you in the best case irritation or breakouts or acne or even all of them. The first method is ideal for the sponges but is perfect for the brushes too. The second one is the faster method. Have in mind that the quick method is also effective and can remove bacteria and residues from the makeup products. In my opinion, it is better to use both methods.
How to Clean Makeup Brushes and Sponges at home DIY
Ideal for the Beauty sponges (and makeup brushes)
Fill, in a medium bowl, 1/3 with lukewarm water, 1 – 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of dishwasher liquid. Soak your brushes and sponges for 2-3 minutes, then take one by one and start swirling them on a rough; area or on your palm under the running water (preferably lukewarm).
In case you have any stubborn dirt, repeat the whole method with a clean mixture and then squeeze out excess product. This method will leave your brushes and sponges amazingly soft and make them brand new!

Faster Method – BRUSH CLEANSER WIPES
As a professional makeup artist, I may have my tools twice and more, but sometimes I need to clean a brush in between eyeshadows. Currently, I am using the brush cleanser wipes by Beauty Drugs.
With one wipe I can clean very efficiently a whole makeup brush set.
